Is the pearl of the Samaná Peninsula and of the Dominican Republic, Bonita (Pretty) Beach completely deserves its name. The beach is located at about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) from the town of Las Terrenas, although most of the beachfront is built, Bonita Beach continues to be a tranquil and magical place.
Its limits are marked by Punta Bonita (Pretty Point) to the west, a true spectacle of nature with its transparent and tranquil waters, the coconut palms leaning towards the sea and its lawn that reaches the sand, and to the east by Loma Bonita (Pretty Hill), a small tongue of rich land full of exuberant vegetation that overhangs to the sea. And hidden by a small hill, on the east part of Bonita Beach, a short 3-minute walk, you’ll find Playa Perdida (Lost Beach), a precious cove seldomly frequented.
To all this add some rocks set across the beach that look like a family of whales petrified in the act of taking a breath and a small creek that arrives at the sea… there are no words to describe it. All you hear is the purring of the sea, nature seems to own the place. Bonita Beach is also an ideal place for those who would like to learn to surf.
