Frontón Beach

Finding beautiful beaches in the Samaná Peninsula is easy, they’re everywhere in the coast, near any hotel, at any direction…

You’ll have to organize and in some instance use road full of potholes, stones and mud holes. The journey can be slow, constantly wondering if this is the right way, but to arrive to places that few know about and where nature reigns is a worthy prize.

Frontón Beach is a place still intact, still virgin, due to its limited access only by foot or boat. From Las Galeras, if you like the idea of taking a boat trip and then go with the fishermen in a short journey around the Cabo Samaná, you’ll arrive to the spectacular beach, enclosed by the ocean and cliffs, between rocks and sky. This is a very special place, the rocks fallen from the wall, of Portoro marble, that surrounds the beach, make it very different from the other beaches of the region.
There are no words or adjectives to describe it.
The only establishment around is “El Tiburón” a “chiringito” where you can enjoy the freshest fish with tostones (fried plantain) or rice.

If you prefer to walk, we recommend the Sendero Ecólogico El Frontón. On the road going towards Las Galeras and a few feet before the exit to Playa Rincon, take a right, heading toward Boca del Diablo, an orifice on the rock that during days of high waves it gives a potent spray of water, the departure point of the excursion. The walk is about 2 miles and is easy; the path is well signaled and has indications. There’s a flyer that explains it, with pictures and a map, edited by the CEBSE.

If you like adventure, camp at the beach, under a million stars… and feel like a castaway for hours…
