Rincón Beach

The jewel of the Samaná Peninsula, Rincón Beach is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches of the country and was named the second best beach of the world by Conde Nast Travel magazine.
It is approximately a mile and a half (2.5 km.) long and is surrounded by thick and singular vegetation. Its waters are turquoise, crystalline and tranquil. Its white sand blends with the green grass. On the eastern part there are many restaurants that offer fresh fish of the day, lobster, and other dishes of the Dominican kitchen. While on the other side of the beach, the western side, there is a beautiful stream, called Caño Frío (cold pipe), where one can take a refreshing bath in fresh water, while waiting for food to be prepared in any of the “comedores” (diners) there. The beach is quite wild, still without constructions, but is very well known and beloved. On Sundays and the holidays, especially during Holy Week, it is full of life.
To get to this paradise, take the highway that goes from Santa Barbara de Samaná to Las Galeras and take a left at about 6 miles (10 kilometers) before Las Galeras. The road, signaled by the classic Brugal sign, is paved at the beginning, then after a few miles is just the typical red soil of the area. Depending on the weather, it can be in bad shape, so it is advisable to do the excursion by motorcycle or 4x4 vehicle. On the way there you’ll cross the towns of La Colmena, Los Tocones and finally Rincón from where the view over this bay of unforgettable colors will excite you.
Another way to get to Rincón Beach is to rent a boat in Las Galeras.
