The small island Cayo Levantando (Raised Key) is one of the best known places in the country. It is located Samaná Bay, very near the coast. This small island has lent its wonders to film famous advertising commercials, in which the landscape overshadowed the product. The most famous are the spot commercials of Bacardi Rum.

Its transparent waters show all ranges of blue. The vegetation of the island is typical of the Caribbean and looks like the image of a postcard. You can travel the entire island in only 15 minutes.

One of the particularities is its special relation with the whales. From its beaches you’ll be able to enjoy, from January to March, the sight of the humpback whales, celebrating their mating rituals.

This gorgeous island, is visited by hundreds of tourists each day, has recently seen the renovation and reopening of an exclusive hotel. It is a crucial excursion; you can get there easily by boat, departing from the port of Santa Barbara de Samaná.
