Waterfall of El Limón

Also inland the Samaná Peninsula, it will surprise you with its spectacular Cascada (Waterfall) de EL Limón, one of the key excursions of the peninsula. Surrounded by tropical forest, over 980 feet (300 meters) above sea level, the waterfall is found perched among the three hills that constitute the Samaná Sierra.

Its goal is an unforgettable excursion, either by foot or horse, the excursion lasts approximately 45 minutes. During the journey you’ll be able to observe cacao, coffee, pineapple, mangoes, avocado trees, etc. As well as many different houses built with wood of Real Palm (protected by the authorities) and painted in many happy colors.

El salto (the leap-as referred to by the natives) with its moss-covered walls possesses great natural beauty. It is over 130 feet (40 meters) high and its sight will leave you speechless. A true temple of nature! You can bathe in the small lagoon formed by the water of the waterfall, although we recommend caution. You’ll be able to observe (and take pictures) the children of the area jumping one right after the other from the high rocks, exhibiting incredible pirouettes.

The excursion normally is done by horse and includes the walk to the waterfall and, at the return, a good typical native meal in one of the ranches of the town.
